The Rocket League Players Association (RLPA) has been officially launched by key stakeholders in the Rocket League esports scene.

The primary aim of this organization is to enhance communication with Psyonix, the game’s developer, and to advocate on behalf of talent within the esports community.

Comprised of professional Rocket League players and coaches, the RLPA offers its members a platform to raise concerns, ask questions, and subsequently present these matters to Psyonix for consideration.

The association was founded by Jonny Davies, a Junior Talent Manager at Sixteenth, a talent agency, and Noah ‘Noah’ Hinder, the Rocket League coach for Moist Esports.

The RLPA operates on an elected model, with regional committees being established. These committees, representing various major regions, serve as a channel through which members can voice their issues. Each regional committee elects a chair, and these chairs convene in an International Committee. The International Committee plans to meet monthly or bi-monthly and aims to compile a report for presentation to Psyonix, which falls under the ownership of Epic Games.

However, it is important to note that the RLPA has yet to consult with Psyonix regarding its plans. According to Davies, the association intends to attract players and establish legitimacy before engaging with Psyonix.

Consequently, the level of involvement from Psyonix remains uncertain. Esports Insider has reached out to Psyonix for comment and will provide updates accordingly.

The RLPA will be overseen by an operations board comprising four members, including Davies as the Chief Executive, along with Matthew ‘Satthew’ Ackermann, coach for G2 Esports, Nicholas ‘Nick’ Marrone, coach for Team Falcons, and professional player Leonardo ‘Turinturo’ Wilson.

All executive board members have forfeited their voting rights within the organization and are ineligible to participate in elections. Currently, membership in the RLPA is limited to players and coaches who have qualified for the RLCS.
