Riot Games has recently unveiled the exciting return of the women’s LCS Game Changers circuit for its highly anticipated third season in 2023.

This year, they have introduced several new elements to enhance the program and provide more opportunities for underrepresented demographics within the esports community.

One of the notable additions to the third season is a strategic partnership with SIDO, a renowned esports research group and consultancy. SIDO will serve as the operations and programming partner for the 2023 LCS Game Changers.

Together, Riot Games and SIDO aim to collaborate and create even more avenues for individuals who have historically been overlooked in the industry. This partnership marks a significant step forward in fostering diversity and inclusion within the competitive gaming landscape.

SIDO, founded in 2022 by Parth Naidu, the former General Manager of TSM, wasted no time in making an impact by securing esports organization Immortals as its first client. With their expertise and industry insights, SIDO is well-positioned to contribute to the success of the LCS Game Changers circuit.

The LCS Game Changers program was initially established by Riot Games in 2021 as a pioneering initiative designed to mentor and recruit talented women and individuals from marginalized genders in the competitive League of Legends ecosystem. Building on its previous accomplishments, the program is set to expand its scope even further in its third season.

One of the exciting developments this year is the introduction of coaching and management positions, offering aspiring professionals valuable career opportunities within the esports industry. Participants in the LCS Game Changers will form teams comprising one coach, one manager, and three players, conducting rigorous tryouts to assemble their ideal rosters.

From July to early September, the 2023 LCS Game Changers will commence in a remote format, enabling participants to compete from various locations. The program will culminate in a highly anticipated in-person LCS Game Changers Final, which will be broadcasted for the first time.

This thrilling event is scheduled to take place at the prestigious Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles from September 20th to 24th, captivating fans and enthusiasts alike.

The hype surrounding the LCS Game Changers has garnered support from influential figures in the esports community. Heather ‘sapphiRe’ Garozzo, the founder of the women’s esports initiative Radiant, has expressed interest in backing the 2023 LCS Game Changers.

Radiant, known for launching the Radiant Challenger Circuit (RCC) earlier this year, is dedicated to empowering women in esports and covers a range of popular titles, including League of Legends.

Additionally, Riot Games has also introduced a parallel program for VALORANT, known as VCT Game Changers. The VCT 2022 Game Changers Championship made history as one of the most-watched female esports tournaments to date, with a peak viewership surpassing 230,000.

With the return of the women’s LCS Game Changers circuit, Riot Games continues to push boundaries, paving the way for increased representation and opportunities for marginalized groups within the exciting world of competitive gaming.
