German esports and gaming organization SK Gaming has partnered with digital collectibles company Kolex ahead of Gamescom 2023, which is set to take place in Cologne, Germany.
The collaboration between the two companies will result in the creation of an SK Gaming Signature Series Collection of digital trading cards. This collection will allow fans to collect both real-world and digital versions of trading cards that feature SK Gaming players and creators.
As part of their partnership, they have also planned activations during Gamescom, including a signing session that will be powered by Cherry Xtrfy.
Kolex
Kolex, a well-known digital collectibles company, specializes in creating esports trading cards. The company was previously known as Epics.gg before undergoing a rebranding. They offer a platform for trading digital collectibles in various games, such as CS:GO and PUBG. Kolex has a history of collaborating with content creators to develop collectibles.
One of Kolex’s significant partnerships is with esports tournament operator ESL, which was announced in 2022. Through this partnership, they work together to produce collectibles for ESL-operated events like IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne. Additionally, ESL sells physical Kolex cards through their online store.
SK Gaming
Founded in 1997, SK Gaming is a German esports organization known for its participation in games like League of Legends, Rocket League, and Brawl Stars. The organization is currently competing in the 2023 LEC Season Finals.
An Innovative Partnership for Esports
The initial focus of the partnership between SK Gaming and Kolex will be on the upcoming Gamescom event. An autograph session featuring SK Gaming players, supported by peripherals brand Cherry Xtrfy, is expected to distribute over 2,500 signature cards to fans. Each signature card will include a digital collectible in addition to the physical card.
