The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), a prominent event in the media industry calendar scheduled for September 15th-18th in Amsterdam, has revealed several esports-related activities for this year’s gathering. This includes a collaboration with the gaming and esports agency, Unlocked.
IBC, an annual fixture in Amsterdam, stands as a cornerstone trade show for the broadcast and media sector. It operates under the auspices of six media-related institutions and non-profit organizations, boasting a rich legacy that spans over five decades. IBC has carved a niche for itself as the stage for unveiling cutting-edge technologies and industry innovations, both on the exhibition floor and within insightful panel discussions.
This isn’t the maiden voyage of IBC into the realm of esports. The year 2019 saw the event play host to a comprehensive esports tournament, and now, in the year 2023, esports is set to make a triumphant return.
Unlocked’s Esports Zone
Unlocked’s esports zone is set to encompass various segments dedicated to different facets of the esports industry. The pièce de résistance will be a production showcase presented in three distinct scales, covering everything from home streaming setups to intimate venues to grand stadium productions.
Revving up the excitement, the zone will also feature racing simulators where skilled drivers will compete tirelessly throughout the duration of the event. To foster connections and collaborations, a networking and partner zone will be seamlessly integrated into the experience.
Gaming Content and More
In addition to the captivating gaming arena, IBC2023’s esports showcase is set to play host to a captivating gaming content program on September 18th. During this program, a panel of seasoned esports and gaming experts will take center stage, delivering a slew of engaging talks and presentations on an array of gaming-related subjects. Topics will span from the nuanced world of in-game advertising to the intricate mechanics of game engines and the latest gaming trends.
Steven Leuvens, Co-Chief Executive Officer, and Founder of Unlocked, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s great to see IBC recognising the growing importance of esports and finding a way to enable people from all parts of the media industry to connect with the gaming organisations while becoming immersed in an onsite esports event. We are excited to be part of IBC2023.”
