British esports organization Guild Esports and telecommunications company Sky have teamed up to organize a Street Fighter tournament.

This collaboration is part of Guild Esports’ move into the widely popular fighting game series, as they put together a team of professional players.

Setting Up the Stage for World-Class Talents

The Guild Esports Street Fighter roster features a diverse range of European talents, including UK player Reneil ‘JoKer JoKeZ’ Landell. This expansion into Street Fighter is aimed at creating new avenues for generating revenue and growing its audience.

To celebrate this expansion, Guild Esports and Sky are co-hosting the ‘Sweat Room,’ a competitive Street Fighter tournament set in an intense environment. The purpose of this tournament is not only to find a winner but also to scout potential players who may join Guild’s Street Fighter team in the future.

Guild Esports has emphasized that participants for the tournament have been selected meticulously by their team of coaches and scouts. Their focus is on uncovering talented amateur Street Fighter players in the UK.

Both Guild Esports and Sky have prior experience in hosting esports tournaments. They previously collaborated in August 2023 to organize a grassroots women’s Rocket League event, providing aspiring teams with a platform to step into the professional realm.

Sky will lead the hosting efforts and manage the social media campaign to promote the upcoming Street Fighter event.

Guild Esports’ Esports Expansion

In recent times, Guild Esports has been actively expanding into various other esports titles. Notably, they secured funding in August 2023 to enter the men’s Counter-Strike scene. Additionally, in June 2023, the organization partnered with Fanatec, a sim racing peripherals manufacturer, to establish a sim racing facility within their headquarters.

Jasmine Skee, the CEO of Guild Esports, expressed her thoughts on this expansion: “Street Fighter boasts a highly competitive gameplay with a dedicated community. We’ve been closely observing its esports scene for a considerable time, and we reckon that now is the opportune moment to establish our own professional team in this arena.

Street Fighter, a legendary franchise dating back to the arcade era, has been a cornerstone in the fighting game genre for decades, making it an exciting addition to Guild Esports’ expanding portfolio.
